WELCOME!

About this Blog:  This is a blog for my pottery classes to get information about the class, and interact with each other on what we are doing in the class.  We will all be sharing information on this blog about what we are doing in the class, and we can see what people are working on and give feedback to each other.

About Mr. Willis:  I have been teaching since 2006, and this is my sixth year at Fowler Middle School, and I am excited to be back!  I grew up in Willamina, Oregon, and that is where I first became interested in pottery.  I took a pottery class my freshman year in high school, and I never stopped doing it.  I went on to study art at George Fox University in Newberg, Oregon, where I graduated in 2002.  I received my Masters degree in teaching from Seattle Pacific University in 2006.
I am married and I have two wonderful sons.  I love spending time with my family.  I also enjoy playing the drums and the banjo.  When I have time you will find me out on the tennis courts, or playing disc golf at the local park.
I have been throwing pottery since 1994, and I sell my work at shows and galleries around the Northwest and online.  I am passionate about pottery, and I am very excited to share what I know with my classes.

About Pottery Class:  This class will be focusing on the fundamental techniques of building and creating pottery we will be focusing on the the four main building techniques which include Pinch, Coil, Slab, and Wheel.  Students will learn each technique, and will build a project using proper technique.  As we learn the techniques we will begin to use these techniques in combination, and combine the building techniques with specific design elements to create pottery that has an artistic design behind it.
