Blog Question #5

We are now creating slab pots, soft slab pots to be specific.  Our biggest artistic component to this assignment is exploring texture.  Your job this week is to post two things your could find at home that could create a good texture for a slab pot.  Good Luck!

  1. To create texture on a slab pot, I could use the bottom of a shoe, and some stencils.

  2. I think that the carpet would be an interesting texture for a soft slab pot. As well as some of the picture frames, a puzzle (if the ridges in between the pieces are deep enough), the top my laptop lid and the macrame' of the table runner.

  3. I found a piece of wood that was kind of weird but I think it would work as a texture thing. I also found a rock that maybe if you wrapped the clay around it, then later the clay out you could get a cool texture.

  4. I think a really cool texture could be made by using LEGOs. You could use one of the big platforms they make or you could also use individual pieces. Another cool texture you could make is a twine print. You could use a twine basket or rope to press into the clay.
